Linux on iPod

Anyone get linux on their iPod? I had it on my iPod Nano but it kind of...died. But it's because I did something wrong. With linux on it, you can get tons of games and stuff. I had Doom :D

Personally I haven't touched my iPod 4th Gen since 01/2006 around there. Have moved onto using my cell phone for mp3s and stuck to it ever since ;)

I do miss my disk space on my ipod though.

Linux definitely sounds cool on iPod, wonder how well it works, thanks for sharing the links!

What is the point of running a diff OS on an MP3 player out of interest?

I think it's like loading an OS for usage as the OS itself in addition to IPOD capabilties?

:adore: iPod Linux.... ahh yup Its great, just don't try to listen to music on it. Hahahaha It will do almost anything but play music. It uses GRUB bootloader to switch between the apple firmware and linux. Only if I could have a keyboard and install Debian on it, would be at home anywhere I go(and don't forget wifi!). Ive installed It on my 4G and 5G ipod's. I also think it kill my 4G with excessive disc usage (anytime you clicked or switched menus the hard drive would spin up).

My friend has http://www.rockbox.org/ on his not sure what it does... lol.
Think it added themes & games and stuff you don't really need but make you "cool". ;)

Rockbox is great for music. Compared to the apple firmware, you have a more features to play with and also comes with a full adjustable sound EQ. Havent you noticed your iPod has no bass when listening rap(don't worry, I HATE rap)? Well with rockbox you can have all the bass your headphones can handle! On the downside, I haven't figured out how to use the damn thing.. the font is about 1 pixel so I don't even know where to start with it.

My friend did the volume limit hack on his iPod - he may aswell have a speaker on his shoulder mega loud, where as my sony vol' hack increased it but not like that.
