Before longing in and after loging in into index.php (main page) in Clipshare there is a "add code here" message...How can I edit that section so that I can add contents to the main page? I would really appreciate the help, I'm new to clipshare...

thanks,
Adolfo

Hi adolfo!

Sounds like it's the advertisement section. If you log in to the siteadmin and click "Settings" then click "View Advertise" you should see (or similar) this:

ID Advertise Name Status Action
1 home_top_banner Active Edit |Active |Inactive
2 foot_top_banner Active Edit |Active |Inactive

etc...

I believe the one you're looking for is "1 home_top_banner" click the "edit" button - you can then add your advertisement code/what ever else you want to appear up there.

Thanks again, I found it and you were right...I really appreciate that a bunch.
By any chance do you know how to get rid of, or change the clipshare logo that shows up on videos after uploading them?

Thanks,
Adolfo

No problem.

I'm not familiar with the clipshare version - do you mean here: (example video (http://www.clipsharedemo.com/view_video.php?viewkey=2482a0ae1cb9f5959c79)) in the top left corner?

If so that is built into the source of the flash to watermark all videos. ClipShare offer a customisation service for the flash player here (http://www.clip-share.com/video-sharing-script-player-rebranding.html) (another money making tool lol)

You could try get hold of another flash player other than the one provided with ClipShare - and try get it to work with it, but I'm guessing that may involve editting the PHP & I'm not a coder so I don't want to suggest anything ;) - could try google around.

That is it....I think it will be easier to contact them and have it changed.

By the way, on the settings/View Advertise section you helped me with worked great...However, only the home_top_banner and the home_right_box show for me...the other six no where to be found...I did hit the active button and nothing....I can make the other two active or inactive but the others will not show anywhere in the site...

thanks a bunch,
Adolfo

If you open index.tpl you can see where the ads go for the ones that load they use this code:

{insert name=advertise adv_name='home_top_banner'}

so you could always edit the template and change the home_top_banner to use the "Advertise Name" under settings for example: foot_bottom_banner and it should display where ever you have put it - once activated. - e.g. you may place:

{insert name=advertise adv_name='foot_bottom_banner'}}

under the banner in head1.tpl.

I feel pretty good now about controling the site...changed all of the green color that comes by default, it was driving me crazy...

Again, thanks for taking the time to help me

Sure, this is a project that I got involved because of a friend's idea and now I'm completely involved in it... I only have the structure so far which is the default clipshare but without the green. However, I do not like the logo. It just does not go with the site at all but that is what he wanted.
I like to try after it is all done and change the entire look of it by editing what is there and maybe adding background images...

let me know what you think

Good job getting the green out, looks more unique with the blue lol.

I'm liking the logo, I think it blends nicely. I agree you could maybe do with a background image to cover up some of that white space - although when videos are added their thumbnails will fill up some space/add some colour to the page.

Nice so far.

I'm still not convinced with the logo but I will let it rest for now.
I'll see about adding to the background but after I'm done adding videos. As you said, the videos will add colour and character to the site...

thanks for taking a look at it
