Hi,

after successfull testing on my personal website (at another hoster with safe_mode=on), I'm now trying to build a small business website using Mambo OS (http://www.mamboserver.com).

The basic install went through fine, no problems there.

The site also displays fine and I can edit content, add sections etc.

But:
template-manager shows not a single template being installed (yet the site clearly uses one)
trying to install a template gives a warning: "Missing argument 4 for uploadfile() in /home/dlsapla/public_html/administrator/includes/installer_common.php on line 1130"
trying to install a template using "Install from directory" (uploadfiles) seems to do something, but after a moment I'm taken back to the "Install template"-page and TmplMgr does not show the template
trying to install a component by uploading the file gives an error "Installation file not found:
/home/dlsapla/public_html/uploadfiles/install_40dadae0b4aac/akolegal/" (I tried other components as well) - but at least ComponentMgr shows the usual comps. as installed.
trying to install a module also fails with "Installation file not found"

Any ideas anyone?

Tx

Mike

P.S: I've asked this also on the Mambo-forum, just thought I'll see if any mambers here happen to have had similar problems...

I was a Mambo user had some issues with it that just bugged me to death! I switched to Xoops CMS and it is much better!!! More themes more modules more powerful!!! Check out my site http://www.kickassamd.com its on xoops and check out Xoops http://www.xoops.org

Hmm, I did not want to switch my CMS-system (now that I have leanred it well enough) just because it does not run on my new ISPs-config - I'd rather switch ISP.
But I had a look at your site and it looks really nice, I like the domain-name ;)
Also looked at xoops again, but did not find that it has so much more than mambo. I'm also concerned about search-engine-friendly URLs and it seems what mambo has to offer there (with an addon) is better than the patches available for xoops.
Which issues did you have with mambo?

Well one thing i noticed was xoops has alot more modules and is powering a hell of a lot more sites then mambo, making themes for Xoops is easier as well as making modules and modding the site! And for tech support and forums interaction Xoops was alot faster as my post on mambo went 6 days with no response and the longest i waited on xoops was a day, My site on mambo crashed frequently and got script errors when i had more then 100 users online...with xoops i can have 300+ online and it just keeps on trucking! Mambo and Xoops was on the same machine with the same config so it was a Server speed issue.

Hi,

A user was wondering if Mambo ran on our servers after he read this post.
Mambo runs fine on our servers and I'm not sure why it didnt for mbaas, if you're still having problems mbaas you're welcome to contact us or even try Mambo's support forum at http://forum.mamboserver.com/

And as for all the errors you got, they could be due to the files not uploaded properly or not chmodded properly. You also need to request safemode off via helpdesk for your domain.com

Thanks admin, it is working. I don't remember exactly what I changed, I think it had to do with permissions of a directory, but it's running.

Mambo was what I was going to use at first, but I made my own instead.
