I want to design a website, a fairly basic one--no credit card processing, storefront, shopping basket or any of that stuff. My hosting company has a number of free templates (http://freetemplates.webdesigningcompany.net/), but they are all so gaudy and structured. So is the only alternative to design it yourself. I find dreamweaver to be overwhelming. Is front page easier to use. There are other alternatives.
There's other sites available if you search around, http://webshapes.org/ has free templates - I personally use FrontPage, it seems a little less "in your face" than DreamWeaver but I've used FrontPage from the start so I'm probably being biased ;)
At Cirtex there is a site builder (once you log into cPanel) and you can create click + add content, style templates in a matter of minutes which is good for a basic website.

Well, for one thing, unless you want blocked colors and such, ie tables, you're going to have to start with designing the site in something like Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Photoshop etc then move onto the site builder
from personal experience:
1) Microsoft Sharepoint Designer (new name of frontpage)
2) Adobe GoLive
3) Microsoft Front Page
4) Dreamweaver
However, if you want some help, I'd gladly help you out~

Heh, someone was posting with half of his brain. ;)
The easiest is to use a premade template (imo). The second easiest (if not costly) is to hire a web designer/company to do your site for you.
Or you could always learn and do it yourself. :)

Or do what I'm doing, I'm using webplus (serif com) and working my way up and then i'll hire professionals if needed for certain things. The one you get in cpanel is okay don't get me wrong but i prefer WP
Don't know if it helps but it's nice to put some input/options into the thread ;)
