domain names

I have a questions as i don't know a whole lot about domains and how they really work. I am thinking of bringing a current site here for hosting. A "partner" of mine actually ownes the domain name. He said he will point the domain to what ever ip address i give him. Is this a problem or is it something you can work with?

Hi,

When you signup you'll be given two nameservers, and then get your partner to point the domain name to the dns nameservers and after 24-48 hrs the domain will be resolved to our server.
