There are so many out there, but only a few really good ones. Which editor do you like to use for your website creations?

Personally, I like to stick to "NOTEPAD" or "WORDPAD" :)

I've been using notepad++ (http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/) lately. I like it, good handling of cross-platform formatting.

I'm also a notepadd++'er and the built in formats for the languages really helps when coding.

Visually I've only really used frontpage which gets the job done I suppose.

I used to use Notepad++ and liked quite a bit. Compact and didn't drain system resources even if the interface was very cluttered.

Frontpage was disappointing. I used it for a little over a year and then made to the switch to Notepad++.

I'm currently using Dreamweaver CS3 to edit and create web pages. I don't use anything of the program, other than it's syntax highlighting and IE-based preview window. I tend to hand-code everything into my web pages from the XHTML to the stylesheets.

I think notepad, editpad and all the similar ones are good for diving into the code but really nothing can beat Dreamweaver, plus it has its own built in text editor.

I use EditPlus, been using it years now and love it. Tried the others, but Editplus seems to have a more familiar interface as standard text editors, but with enchanced support you expect from advanced editors. (Syntax Highlighting, Macros, etc..) Adding in support for other file formats/scripting is easy as well.

Anyone ever heard of HTML Beauty? A nice piece of work that program is and it is totally free, at least last time I checked. I'm surprised no one said "front page" I hate that prog.

Front page is fine, if you want to publish your word documents.

Hey it came with the package dammnit ;) not touched it in a ages though.

I tried an open source one before I think it was called nvu or n-view (or similar .. the google search is too many clicks away) didn't really get into it.

Hmm, now that I think about it, I can also use TextPad. I just remembered that TextPad is an enhanced text editor that I mainly use for programming, but I can also use it for web creation and editing since it does do syntax highlighting, but doesn't do previews.

I use an HTML editor called HTML Kit and I like it a lot. It has support for HTML, jsp, asp, gives tag completes among other things. For a look at it go to www.download.com and look up HTML-Kit. Also with HTML-kit you can basically save in any file extension you want. From Cold fussion to JSP to SQL.
