When creating a site if you could only use one background color which would you chose to work with: black or white?

I prefer lighter sites, so probably have to be white.

The only problem I find with white is that you end up losing focus unless you make your content really colorful, but that's just me.

Dark sites make my eyes ache in the summer :D

I like a grey background, its not plain but its not overpowering.

Black background websites are like little 'green' sites, they save energy! However, I prefer a clean white background; easier to see, and less older people complaining.

I like dark layout but actually it depends on site's theme. If it's mafia-like I prefer dark layout. If it's classic rpg-like I would go with yellowish layout.

That is so funny, I should start marketing that... make your sites all black to save energy!

I could get a domain for that - "black environment .com" and start promoting how much we can save energy using black buttons, logos and backgrounds, and then set up a donation button and have everyone send me their money instead! Brilliant!

The black: transmits seriousness (page very seriously and very full), but it seems that “hiding something”.A page with a black background can be quite shocking in some Web content and nothing to recommend, for example, a site selling products.Whenever I speak in a generic and of course, that does not always have created a “commercial image.”
White:it is the cleanliness and clarity, but also simplicity. A white background with some poor content can be a failure.
